Wendall H. Ford Regional Training Center | Greenville, KY
The Wendall H. Ford Regional Training Center, located just outside of Greenville, KY, sits on over 11,000 acres of reclaimed strip-mines. The purpose of this state-of-the-art facility is to provide emergency response training by professional firefighters in areas that include:
- EMS
- Fire suppression (Structure/Wild Land)
- Fire Prevention
- Fire Education
- Water Rescue
- Aircraft Rescue Firefighting
PFGW Architects provided services for a new fire station and addition to the existing apparatus bay for use of the Training Centers Fire and Rescue Department.
Demolition of selected portions of existing buildings and structures were needed to accommodate the construction of 4,357 square feet, single-story masonry building to serve as business and residential use to include a commercial kitchen, laundry area, training/storm shelter room, dorm rooms, men & women’s locker rooms with showers, electronic communications area, and equipment room. This portion of the project connects to the existing apparatus bay centralizing the business/residential quarters with the new construction of 2,668 square feet, single-story masonry building for 2 additional apparatus bays and storage area.
